SACRIFICE Representing my personal memories, of a ritual of my own village.From the childhood, I witnessed the layers of meaning behind that annual gatherings. My visual memory of the ritual was that of a mesmerized infant—fascinated, confused, and silent. The painting is a snapshot of changing moment of the ritual known as ‘Dondi’, offering devotion through a collective endurance and physically intense act—lying down, marking the ground with their hands, rising, and repeating that rhythmic, flowing, almost dance-like movment. Contrasting their struggle and sacrifice. After that animals being sacrificed in the name of God.This installation brings together two mediums—painting and sculpture as a metaphor to mirror the contradiction . The painting represents the mesmerizing unity of bodies in motion, the strength and vulnerability of the women, the beauty in their spiritual offering. The sculpture, on the other hand, confronts the viewer with the twisted, flowing forms suggesting movement but also agony, layered with silent faces. Both pieces are born from a memory. They do not oppose each other, but exist in tension.
